Governor Charlie Baker has signed a bill legalizing sports betting in Massachusetts into law.
Baker signed the bill yesterday, saying he appreciates the dedication and compromise demonstrated by the legislature on this issue.
The measure places the responsibility for creating the rules to govern sports betting on the state gaming commission.
Baker says he looks forward to working with the commission on responsible implementation of the law over the next few months.
Meantime, as the State Gaming Commission comes up with its regulations, State Senator John Velis says he is concerned with the slow pace.
Velis says the state is already years behind others in putting Sports Betting in place, and that means lost revenues for the state.
