President Biden wants Congress to act on immigration. In his State of the Union address last night, Biden said lawmakers should at least pass his plan to provide equipment and officers necessary to secure the border.
Congressman Richard Neal, who is now the ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee was pleased with what he heard.
"President Biden and Democrats’ investments have made way for new records for job creation, shrinking unemployment, expanding access to health care, and tackling the climate crisis. The Ways and Means Democrats stand ready to build on these historic gains, and to do so responsibly. Now is the time to extend the expanded Child Tax Credit and deliver paid leave for all, simply by asking the wealthiest to pay their fair share. After a record-breaking open enrollment season, making the enhanced ACA premium tax credits permanent, filling the coverage gap, and lowering out-of-pocket costs for drugs and care for all will give families more peace of mind and lead to a healthier America."
Republicans were short on praise for the President's Address.
