Regent Craft In North Kingstown Gets Major Investment

Defense contractor Lockheed Martin has invested in a Rhode Island company.

Regent Craft based in North Kingstown says Lockheed is seeking expedited development of the seaglider, a new category of maritime vehicle which can carry people and goods between coastal destinations.

“We believe that REGENT seagliders can bring tailored solutions to the future battlespace," said Chris Moran, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Ventures. “This investment reflects our commitment to innovating technologies that have the potential to transform the way we adapt to our customer’s needs and support mission success."

The boat and airplane hybrid can travel at speeds up to 180 miles per hour.
