Season Over For Thunderbirds After Game Two Loss In Hartford

The hockey season has come to an end for the Springfield Thunderbirds after being swept by the Hartford Wolfpack in the best two-out-of-three series, two games to none.

In a must win game at the XL Center in Hartford, the Thunderbirds ran into hot goaltending and equally hot scoring, as Hartford got first period goals from Tanner Fritz, Wyat Kalynuk and Ty Emberson. Springfield’s Will Bitten got the Thunderbirds on the board to cut the lead to three to one, but that is as close as it would be.

The Thunderbirds were one for three on the power play. Springfield took just one penalty in the game.

Springfield was out shot by Hartford 35 to 20 in game two and for the series 71 to 45.

There were 5,745 people at the XL Center.
