Westfield Gas and Electric is operating nine new charging stations for electric vehicles.
City officials celebrated with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday.
The station locations include several schools, Westfield Barnes Regional Airport, and the municipal parking lots at Depot Square north of the Great River Bridges.
They were installed with the help of a 380-thousand-dollar grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.
Westfield Mayor Michael McCabe said the charging stations represent another step in reducing the carbon footprint.
