The House Minority Whip says GOP leaders want the American people to face the impossible choice of devastating social service cuts or a devastating default.

The U.S. Treasury has warned that without a deal by June first, the country could default on its debts.

Meantime, talks are continuing with some question as to how much real progress is being made.
