Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno says that he has had what he calls "fruitful" meetings with state officials on building a new Hampden County Courthouse.
The mayor says he has met with state court officials about the importance of it being not only a safer solution but also an economic catalyst for the Riverfront.
The Mayor also says a new building could be done in four years as opposed to the eight years it would take to rehab the current structure.
According to the latest reports, the state has a list of 12 sites where a new courthouse could be built.
The State is looking seriously at building on the current footprint of the Courthouse.
