People visiting the Riverfront Park for the Fourth of July celebration and fireworks will be able to enter the complex through the State Street entrance as usual.
Springfield Congressman Richard Neal says that Amtrak has agreed to open the gates for the event as had been the case for the 37 previous years of the event. It is still unclear what issues Amtrak had with the entrance being open. Officials say that the entrance will be open as of 5PM and close at 11 or when people are safely out of the park.
Officials do say that they will be closing the entrance from time to time to ensure that trains can pass through Springfield safely.
As there always are - the Memorial Bridge will be closing to ellow for the set up of the fireworks by the Grucci Family.
