The Massachusetts Teachers Association is calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The board of the teacher's union recently voted to join other labor unions in calling for the ceasefire.
The union is also calling on President Biden to stop sending weapons and funds for Israel to use in the war, calling it genocide on the Palestinian people.
The statement was not accepted by the Newton Teachers Association, which is distancing itself from the statewide union and calling for a retraction.
