Westfield Reduces Speed To Slow Down Traffic Accidents

An effort to reduce speeding in Westfield has resulted in a change in the limit in selected areas.

In areas where the speed limit was 30 miles per hour, it has now been reduced to 25 miles per hour, under a Massachusetts law that allows municipalities to change the limits in business districts and heavily settled areas.

Motorists can expect new signage to that effect in the next few months.

Police say the change was made in response to complaints about speeders and the number of crashes in the city.
