State legislative leaders have released a spending package that will provide hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for the emergency shelter system.

The Conference Committee plan comes just hours after the governor had announced that money for shelters was almost gone.

The measure will also limit stays in emergency shelters to nine months, with some people able to receive up to two 90 day extensions.

The bill also sets aside money for job training for people in shelters, and offers a tax credit for companies that train people.

The state emergency shelter system has reached its cap of 75 hundred families, with 730 families currently on the waiting list.
