Hampden County is at moderate risk of mosquito-transmitted illnesses.
That's according to Springfield Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, who said Triple-E and West Nile Virus are in the community.
Caulton-Harris is urging residents to take precautions to avoid mosquitoes like staying inside during dusk when they are the most active.
Other safety measures include wearing long sleeves and dumping out any standing water.
