A Michigan man, Harrison Jones, allegedly drove over 700 miles from Rockford, Michigan, to Bensalem, Pennsylvania, to set fire to the home of a man who was communicating with his ex-girlfriend. The incident occurred early in the morning on Monday (February 10), when Jones allegedly set the house ablaze while six people were inside.
According to WDTN, the fire began shortly after 5 a.m., and the residents were alerted by suspicious noises, allowing them to evacuate.
"Upon arrival, emergency services located six adult residents who had evacuated from the home, some of whom had to jump out of second-story windows to escape the flames," police said.
While the victims managed to escape from the fire, they suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Bensalem Police identified Jones as the suspect through surveillance footage of a black Volkswagen Passat with Michigan plates, which was registered to his father. Jones was seen on the footage near the house before the fire erupted.
Jones, 21, was arrested in Michigan and is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. Police said that he had burns on his arm, and investigators found burn treatment supplies at his home.
He faces charges of six counts of attempted criminal homicide, arson, and related offenses.
