Farewell, Tom Wolfe

Tom Wolfe will not be down for dinner.

Forget Norman Mailer and John Updike, Tom Wolfe was the greatest writer of his generation. The fact that he has so many different books that are so many different favorites for so many different people is the Trump card. Among the favorites is "Radical Sheik" about Leonard Bernstein's 1968 Black Panther Party. Form his signature white suits to his inimitable style, Tom Wolfe changed the way writers wrote; and even inspired one Howie Carr to become a magazine writer.

He may be gone, but his works will live on. Vanity Fair did a great piece on Wolfe HERE.
