Today is National Weatherperson's Day. It was set aside to recognize all who labor in the field of of meteorology. Join me in honoring our number one meteorologist and the nation's first weather forecaster.
This annual holiday commemorates the February 5, 1745 birth of Dr. John Jeffries in Boston. He was both a scientist and surgeon and is considered the nation's first weather forecaster. Tom Bevacqua is a modern day meteorologist and was one of the first in the country to utilize Doppler radar in broadcast meteorology.
