Look around yourself right now. Better yet, look at whatever device you are viewing this blog on. It is most likely made of plastic. Just about everything is made of plastic. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (Known on my show as Sheldon Only-whites-in-the house) wants to tax all new or "virgin" plastic at 20-cents per pound. Whitehouse's Rewarding Efforts to Decrease Unrecycled Contaminants in Ecosystems (REDUCE) Act is intended to increase plastic recycling and reduce plastic pollution. If the the REDUCE Act became law, it would drive up consumer prices and do little to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans. The United State is responsible for less than 10-percent of plastic pollution in the world's oceans. So where is all this pollution coming from and why is REDUCE a waste of time and money?
