Jon Escueta, founder of City Cuts Barbershop in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, has recently implemented a new program aimed to promote literacy and confidence in children.
"Our goal is for kids to build their confidence by reading in front of others while getting a haircut," writes Escueta.
The program, called "Books By Kids," was created in response to a common fear amongst adults. "About 75% of Adults fear Public Speaking," Escueta explains.
"Books By Kids" rewards children for reading aloud. "They will receive $3 for reading while in the chair.
The video, originally posted on Instagram, has also been shared on Twitter, a post which has since generated over 138,000 likes.
Twitter was impressed with the campaign.
This isn't the first time Escueta and City Cuts Barbershop has given back to the community and supported children's education.
In August 2018, they ran a Back 2 School Giveaway, where students from kindergarten to 8th grade could receive free hair cuts and backpacks with school supplies.
Thank you, City Cuts Barbershop, for helping the kids of Pennsylvania.
