Safety in the area of the soon-to-be-opened MGM Casino in Springfield is still a hot topic.
The South End Business Association pressed Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri for more details on a plan at a meeting on Tuesday.
Barbieri said a new police substation, kiosks and the hiring of dozens of community policing officers are all part of the plan.
The 950-million-dollar casino and resort is expected to open in the fall of 2018.
