Springfield officials are continuing to combat the opioid crisis in the city.
Mayor Domenic Sarno held a meeting yesterday with representatives of law enforcement, the city's health and human services commissioner, the governor's office, eastern Massachusetts-based Column Health, Mercy and Saint Francis hospitals, and a local citizens council to develop a plan.
Sarno says he's hopeful the city can pursue a public-private partnership to attack the crisis and says police efforts must be supplemented with "wrap around services" of health, mental health, and recovery coaches and treatment aspects.
