Have you ever noticed that talking to anyone about anything is almost impossible to do?
Take notice. The subject makes no different. If you have a thought, the other guy has a reason why you are wrong, the reason why the next point you make is wrong and the conclusion of the topic. That he has only heard three words makes no difference. People don’t listen because they are too busy talking.
Frustrating. Conversation is not a chess match. Boris Kasparov is not looking 19 moves ahead and concedes. Conversation is give or take. But since it is more important for people to prove to the world they are better than who they are, we have all lost the tallent for conversation, true debate and satisfaction at both.
Cicero once said that that “Silence is one of the great arts of conversation.”
Perhaps in Congress they will do more listening than talking.
Perhaps hell will freeze over too.
