Shark Sightings and Attacks on Seal Force Beach Closure on Cape Cod

BARNSTABLE, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Two Cape Cod Beaches were closed following shark sightings and shark attacks on a seal and a swimmer.

According to the Cape Cod National Seashore, Sharks were seen in the waters off Race Point Beach in Provincetown and Meadow Beach in Truro Thursday afternoon.

Police in Barnstable tweeted on Friday that a Great White was spotted off Barnstable Harbor. 

Sandwich Police say a fisherman reported a shark outside the canal entrance on the Sandwich side.

The sightings comes days after a 61-year-old man was bitten in the leg and torso on  LongNook Beach in Truro forcing the beach closure along with a sighting that sparked a panicked response in Provincetown Thursday

In a video seen in the tweet below, a beach goer who spotted a shark attack a seal shot video of the shark and warned swimmers to get out of the water.

The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing even spotted sharks as it flew over the Cape.

Officials on the Cape have urged beach goers stay safe by not swimming at dusk, dawn and no where near seals.
