Biomass Debate Returns To Springfield

Springfield City Council is seeking a  legal opinion on the permitting status of a proposed biomass plant.

Council members want to know if the permits are still valid for the  proposed wood-burning Palmer Renewable Energy site in East Springfield.

The city solicitor now has 30 days to respond after the city council  voted last night.

Council President Orlando Ramos remains opposed to  the project, citing already-poor air quality in the city that he says  would be worsened by such a facility.
