Police Investigate Two Fatal Western Mass Accidents

State Police say a truck driver lost control of his rig on the Mass Turnpike in Blandford Thursday morning after striking two other vehicles.

Five people were taken to the hospital. One of the people died. Police have not released many other details.

Unfortunately, that was not the only fatality in the area.

The Hampden District Attorney's office says an SUV occupied by a male driver and four children appears to have lost control while driving in the area of Russell Street, crossed onto Shawinigan Drive and collided with a tanker truck, then collided with a minivan.

Two of the children in the SUV, identified as nine-year-old Jadyn and seven-year-old Natalya Lamas, were pronounced dead after all four children were taken to Baystate Medical Center.

The D.A.'s office says the driver was the father of the children.
