Lawmakers Not Talking About Expanding Booze Sales In State

More places for booze will mean more violence and more people consuming alcohol.

Elizabeth Parsons, a substance abuse prevention coordinator at Mystic Valley Public Health testifying before a legislative committee against a measure that would allow convenience stores to also sell booze like in other states.

State Lawmakers say they need to do a better job at understanding the entire booze issue before reporting the bill out of committee.

The package store industry has already denounced the proposal and ballot initiative.

They say that the marketplace would be heavily tilted toward the convenience store industry.
