Human EEE Case Confirmed In Massachusetts

The state is confirming a human case of the deadly mosquito-borne disease Eastern equine encephalitis in Plymouth County.

No information has been released about the boy's condition.

State public health officials have raised the Triple E risk level to critical in Middleborough and Carver, with Kingston, Plympton and Rochester at high risk.

Officials say a boy in his teens got the virus on July 20th and was hospitalized.

The victim has since been released from the hospital but officials have not said much more about the case.

Doctors at the State Health Department are urging the use of sprays with DEET and the wearing of long sleeves.
