Funeral Arrangements For Fallen Worcester Police Officer Announced

Worcester continues to mourn the deaths of a police officer and a teenager in apparent drownings. Officer Manny Familia was trying to rescue a teenager at Green Hill Pond Friday when he went under and did not surface. Familia was later pronounced dead, along with 14-year-old Troy Love of Virginia. He was visiting family in Worcester and apparently began struggling while trying to swim across the lake.

Calling Hours for the officer are set for Wednesday from 4 to 8pm at St John's Church. The funeral is set for that same facility Thursday.

Flags throughout the state are at half mast in hour of the fallen officer, described as "a brother and a hero" by Police Chief Steven Sargent.
