Slur Prompts Community Action On Diversity

The Enfield Town Council and Board of Education will hold a "Community Conversation on Race, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" later this month.

This is in response to an Enfield High School football player being called a racial slur last weekend while participating in a door-to-door fundraising event.

School officials say the student went to a homeowner's door and asked if they wanted to buy cards for the school's fundraiser.

The homeowner said no and then allegedly called the teen a racial slur and made other statements that "left the teen feeling intimidated and threatened."

The Police Chief says the incident was investigated and the slur, although vile is protected under the First Amendment.

The community meeting will be held on August 23rd at 5:30 pm on the town green.
