Irish National Sentenced In Multi-State Home Repair Fraud Scheme

An Irish national living unlawfully in the United States has been sentenced for his role in a scheme to defraud homeowners in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Twenty-eight-year-old John O'Brien pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges in December, and he's been sentenced to 56 months in prison.

He is expected to be deported following completion of his sentence.

O'Brien and his co-conspirators posed as a skilled tradesman and contractor to fleece homeowners of close to one-million-dollars while causing substantial damage to their homes.
