A judge in Santa Monica, California has denied Bill Cosby a new trial after a woman won a nearly 60 million dollar verdict in her lawsuit against the disgraced actor.
Donna Motsinger argued in her sexual battery lawsuit that Cosby drugged and raped her decades ago.
On March 23rd, a jury awarded her 19-point-25 million dollars in compensatory damages and 40 million dollars in punitive damages for a total of 59-point-25 million dollars.
Cosby's attorneys filed motions for a new trial or a judgment not withstanding the verdict.
On Friday, the judge heard arguments on the motions, took the case under submission and denied both motions later in the day.
