Three people are dead after a major residential fire in Springfield.
Springfield fire officials say people were jumping out of the apartment building on Belmont Avenue when they responded at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Four other people were hospitalized with apparent non-life-threatening injuries, and about 80 residents were displaced.
The names of the victims haven't been released, but authorities say some of them are African refugees.
There were no sprinklers in the four story structure but their were smoke detectors.
The Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi telling reporters that crews were hampered by the whipping winds and cold temperatures.
The State Fire Marshal is also helping with the investigation.
