Judge Issues Inspection Order

A Springfield judge has signed the order that will allow the city to conduct a health and code inspection at the South Congregational Church.

The partial standoff came in a dispute between the church and city over whether the inspections could be held in the aftermath of the church being used for a sanctuary for a woman from Peru who was being threatened with deportation.

The Mayor says that he is protecting the rights of the city.

The Assistant Minister of the Church, Louis Mitchel tells our media partner Western Mass News that the church has always allowed inspections if they were scheduled but since this was not then the church asked for the city to get a judge to sign off on in.

The judge, in his order says that the inspection may begin Thursday morning.
