A Yarmouth police officer is dead after he was shot while serving a warrant in Barnstable.
State Police say the shooting happened after three p.m. yesterday on Blueberry Lane in the village of Marstons Mills.
Officer Sean Gannon was shot in the head, then was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital, where he later died.
Officials say he was a graduate of Westfield State University.
Officer Gannon was serving an arrest warrant with two other officers at the time of the incident.
The suspect in the shooting is in custody, identified as 29-year-old Thomas Latanowich.
Latanowich will be arraigned on a multitude of charges later today.
