Deadline Extended For Hurricane Victims

FEMA is extending a temporary shelter program for about two-thousand hurricane evacuees.

This comes after Puerto Rican families who were displaced by Hurricane Maria asked Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey for assistance at their Springfield office last week ahead of an approaching end of the line for free hotel stays.

FEMA notes that it has reviewed hundreds of cases where families had either no home damage from the hurricane or have withdrawn their applications for federal assistance voluntarily.

The victims are going to have to come up with a solution in about a month.
