Republican U.S. Senate candidate Geoff Diehl is pressing the case for lowering the state sales tax back to five-percent.
He's supporting the collection of the additional eleven-thousand signatures needed to get the question on the November ballot.
The Massachusetts Retailers Association already collected about 100-thousand signatures needed to qualify for the ballot, but Diehl says more signatures are necessary because the Legislature has failed to act.
The candidate says reducing the sales tax helps consumers, as well as stores competing online and with New Hampshire retailers.
