A special meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Holyoke to discuss whether the city will buy the closed Mater Dolorosa Church.
A city subcommittee passed the decision on to the full council yesterday.
The city and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield announced an agreement for the city to buy the historic Polish church last month for 50-thousand dollars.
The full city council will get the issue on Thursday.
