The state is awarding nearly six-and-a-half-million-dollars to 22 communities statewide through the Complete Streets Funding Program.
The funds will be used locally to improve accessibility for bicyclists, pedestrians, public transit and other forms of transportation.
Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack says the Complete Streets Program is a reflection of the state's commitment to ensure roads work for people of all ages, abilities and modes of transportation.
The program mimics some of the patterns in Springfield which had dedicated street space for bicyclists.
