Governor Weighs In On Game Plan

Governor Charlie Baker is again calling for the death penalty to be reinstated in Massachusetts for people convicted of killing police officers.

Baker's  comments come after the killing of Weymouth police officer Michael  Chesna.

The governor says he will sign a  bill that adds a two-dollar surcharge to vehicle rentals.

The first  ten-million-dollars raised by the surcharge will be used for increased  police training.

Police have been lobbying for a similar measure that Fire Departments have for funding in order to insure that the program can be useful.

The Governor has not said one way or the other what he plans to do with a measure that would increase the age in which to buy tobacco in this state.

The ten day clock on his budget decisions began on Friday.
