Mayors United To Save Their Hospitals

A bipartisan group of Massachusetts  mayors are opposed to Question 1 on the November ballot.

They say they have to step in to save their hospitals.

Passage would  require hospitals statewide to adhere to nurse staffing levels at all  times.

The mayors say the mandate's lack of flexibility by holding  small rural and community hospitals to the same staffing levels as the  big Boston  teaching hospitals is a major concern.

They warn the high costs  associated with Question 1 would force some vulnerable hospitals to  close.
