Stewart Weldon is being held without bail following his arraignment this morning on 52 charges including three counts of murder.
He was arrested in May during a traffic stop when a woman who was with him told police she was being held against her will, beaten and sexually assaulted.
Three days later the bodies of three women were found in Weldon's home on Page Boulevard in Springfield.
The Hampden County DA Anthony Gulluni says a wealth of information was gleaned from a victim who happened to be in the car, allegedly driven by Weldon which was pulled over in a traffic stop.
It was during that stop that the woman went to police and told them of her's and other's ordeal.
Weldon is due back in court for a status conference in January.
