A new memorial in Springfield is going to pay tribute to victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
It includes a steel beam salvaged from the World Trade Center and gifted to the Spirit of Springfield by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The memorial will also include a bronze wall with the names of the hundreds of first responders who died at the site of the twin towers in Manhattan.
Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno had hoped that everything would be ready for this year's remembrance which is going to be Tuesday. The project though was delayed.
A groundbreaking was held at Riverfront Park.
