A former Springfield golf professional is pleading guilty to tax fraud charges.
The U.S. Justice Department says Springfield resident Ryan McDowell skimmed about 100-thousand dollars from golf revenues during his time at the Franconia and Veterans Memorial golf courses, both owned by the city, from 2011 to 2016.
McDowell will be sentenced in December after entering the plea to six fraud counts in federal court in Springfield on Friday.
The pro shops of the courses were raided by the IRS in 2016, and agents also raided the homes of now-former head golf pro Kevin Kennedy Jr., although Kennedy has not been charged in connection to the probe.
