A viral Facebook post showing what is claimed to be a sick elephant at the Big E is drawing reaction from fair officials and the elephant's owner.
Eastern States Exposition President and CEO Gene Cassidy (pictured above) tells WHYN News that an online petition that gained traction thanks to the post is being organized by activists with an agenda.
Tim Commerford, who owns the traveling zoo that the elephant is a part of, says the animal is not sick, and that it is closely monitored and regulated.
The Group says it has already tried filing at least two lawsuits seeking to have the animals returned to a sanctuary.
No word on when a judge will hear those pleadings.
