Springfield's City Council is approving more than a million dollars in legal settlements that were previously reached by the city.
Included in the settlements are 885-thousand dollars to four men who were allegedly beaten by off-duty police officers in 2015.
The alleged incident happened outside of Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant in East Forest Park, sparking two lawsuits which were both resolved with the settlement.
Other payments included money for a man who died from an aneurysm while in a Springfield police holding cell, and a settlement with the family of a Springfield boy who nearly drowned in a city pool in Forest Park last summer.
