America's largest bed store plans to close hundreds of stores as part of its bankruptcy proceedings.
Houston-based Mattress Firm filed for Chapter 11 in order to get out of about 700 unfavorable leases.
The company says it will close 200 of those stores that are under performing, and will decide soon what to do with the remaining 500 locations.
There are more than 33-hundred Mattress Firm stores nationwide, including in San Antonio.
Many of them are too close to other stores as a result of rapid expansion in recent years.
Officials say six of the stores are in Connecticut. The Enfield store is slated to remain open.
Six stores in Massachusetts are slated to close including the one on North King Street in Northampton.
Store officials are not commenting.
