The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is leaving public comment open until Wednesday on a study of the Interstate 91 Viaduct in Springfield.
Among the recommendations from MassDOT: significant functional traffic and safety improvements for the section of highway known as the Longmeadow Curve, which was not improved with the most recent deck replacement project last year and this year, and replacing the Agawam rotary and the South End and Westfield River bridges, at a combined estimated cost of nearly 600-million dollars.
The report, which is available on mass.gov, also suggests enhanced connectivity between downtown Springfield and the Connecticut River.
Although the report concludes that the price tag would be north of 600 million dollars, it does not specify where the money would be coming from.
