A 67-year-old Northampton man is charged in connection with the theft of jewelry from a store.
Police say he took two diamond necklaces valued at nearly 69-hundred-dollars from Silverscape Designs on Friday.
Based on a description, the suspect was arrested hours later and found to be in possession of heroin and a receipt from a Springfield pawn shop for a necklace traded for 100-dollars.
Northampton police are trying to locate the stolen jewelry.
The suspect pleading not guilty in court.
