Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito was in Springfield on Thursday to talk about safety concerns with local law enforcement.
Polito spoke at the YWCA of Western Massachusetts about a bill backed by Governor Charlie Baker's administration which reforms bail procedures for repeat violent offenders, proposed after two police officers were killed in eastern Massachusetts earlier this year.
The bill is currently in a House committee. It is unclear whether there is enough votes to get the bill out of committee.
Support for the bill was expressed by Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and other officials in attendance.
