Make sure the kids are dressed warm underneath their costumes if they are going trick-or-treating tonight, although it won't be nearly as cold as it was overnight Wednesday.
The Halloween forecast for Springfield from the National Weather Service is mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 40s.
Rain is holding off just long enough, as it is forecast to be wetter for the rest of the week.
Meantime, local police departments are providing safety advice.
Officials are asking parents to make sure their kids are wearing bright colored, reflective clothing... travel in groups.
Parents also need to check candy before it is consumed. And drivers are advised not to even think about going out unless they have properly working headlights.
And this year officials are asking parents to add a safety check.
Check the Sex Offender Registry to insure that kids remain safe.
