The family of a woman who died after her arrest and detention in Springfield is seeking more information about what happened.
An obituary posted for Vermont native Madelyn Linsenmeir gained national attention for its candid description of her struggle with opioid use.
The ACLU of Massachusetts earlier this week announced a lawsuit it has filed along with the group Prisoners' Legal Services for access to the records.
Her family claimed in a statement that Linsenmeir was refused medical attention when she was booked in September, and that the lack of transparency from Springfield officials is troubling.
The City has not commented on the suit.
