Federal funding is coming for a railroad that runs through Western Massachusetts.
Senator Ed Markey's office announced on Monday that nearly eleven-million dollars is being granted to update the infrastructure of the New England Central Railroad.
That money, combined with about 20-million in state funding and from the railroad itself, is expected to go specifically towards modernizing the line to catch it up with the rest of the route in three other states; Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
